Hello

I wonder if anyone can help me. I want to buy a new surround sound system for my Xbox, PS3 and Blue ray. The existing one I have I bought about 6 years ago. To be honest I was never really that impressed with it. It never gave me that wow factor. It’s a Sony out of the box home cinema kit. I think at the time I spend around £500 (€700). From reading reviews over the web I think the way to go is to buy everything separately. Money is a bit tight at the moment so I am going to buy everything in stages. I have set my mind on the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver. Perhaps someone can put me in a better direction. Can I use the speakers and subwoofer from my last Sony system with this until I get the money for everything else? Also what subwoofer would you recommend? Look forward to your replies.

No idea how it works over there (in the UK?) in your neck of the woods, but since $ is tight, I'd suggest taking a look to see if you can find a good bargain value on some recently discontinued models instead.

For speakers, yes, you most likely should be able to drive the old set w/ a new receiver unless it was something from Bose and/or places like Sharper Image.

You should probably provide some more info on budget (both long term and short term), room size and such in order to get better guidance/recommendations.
