Don't take this the wrong way, guys. In fact, I think Ron's assessment was pretty well spot-on (well, maybe I would have chosen 'Almost Famous', but this was a close horse race.

If the studios and the media are going to pay lip service to HTF having a 'DVD of the Year', why not start having annual awards that are voted for by the forum itself, that is, the members who comprise the forum?

We could open up a nominations process where members can submit nominees (by Region 1 UPC code to make the data easy to parse), then have another form later to vote on the winner from the nominees. Not difficult to program at all.

Or course "Ron's Reviews" or whatever his new site is called, and Obi and whoever want to name their own "DVDs of the year", there is no reason not to as well.

Think about it. I think this could be a great interactive enhancement that would only draw attention to the forum.

    Keep up the good work!

    Michael:

That is something that we have discussed before and something that we are working on already. We even want to go as far as making up some sort of plaque to give away too.

    Stay tuned.

It still has not been decided if we are

going to leave it up to the membership to vote

    next year or not.

As Parker stated - stay tuned.

Why not take a cue from science fiction's annual Hugo Awards: they are voted on in advance of the World Science Fiction Convention--by the authors and the fans. (Whereas the Nebula Awards, given out annually by the Science Fiction Writers of America, are voted on only by professional writers in the field. Guess which is more popular? On the other hand, guess which award carries the most prestigue?)
