My JBL PSW-D112 subwoofer has been having a problem lately. Instead of going into normal standby, the sub produces a tapping sound. This sound is ongoing at about 5 taps per second. The tapping is a low and quiet sound and continues indefinately. The only way to stop the sound is to turn off the sub, push the video contour switch a few times, or activate the sub by turning on the reciever. Basically, the sub does not go into standby correctly and instead makes this tapping sound. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ben

Your amp is probably shot. JBL subs have been plagued with amp problems lately.

Ben,

I experienced this with my Hsu sub. Noise was being introduced into my sound system from my cheap TV when it was off.

The low level power supply in the TV.....power for the built-in clock and remote on/off, was sending out the noise. I found out by unplugging and plugging things back in. I was going to change the TV anyways, and when I did, it was gone.
