I've seen several threads on different forums where someone says they weren't getting much sound out of their sub through the line level connection, so they connect to the speaker terminals and everything is fine.

I was curious whether there is a reason for this. I use the line-level input and have never had a problem.

Often times, these are cases where they are using SACD / DVD-A, and/or an external DD/DTS decoder where they feed their amps / avr's directly with 6 analog cables. Often times, bass management can be a nightmare with these setups.

Using the fronts to connect to the sub, can be very beneficial if bass management is lacking.

For standard music formats and HT, the line level should nearly always be way best / better.
