It's kinda stupid question for most of people here, but I'm so new to the HT.........
My yammy receiver (HTR-5450) come with a powered sub (75 watts amp, 7") and I kind of need some more bass so, my question is can I upgrade my sub to a bigger one (300 watts amp, 12")???? Will it damage my receiver????
    Thanks a lot!

A powered sub will just connect to your reciever by a simple audio interconnect. The receiver won't power it, just send it a signal for the sub's own amp to amplify. You can hook any powered sub (or passive sub and a seperate amp) up to your receiver you want. You won't damage it.

    Binh,

I just responded to your other post where you were looking for a sub UNDER 10 inches. If you are looking for a good sub from 8 to 12 inches, you can't go wrong with the Adire Rava that Bruce mentioned, or a HSU VFT-2, or an SVS 20-35 pci, all under about $500.

    Bruce,

Are you referring to the NHT 1259? I wouldn't even dream of using that driver today as it's been far outclassed by the likes of the Adire Shiva and Dayton DVC 12" drivers. Unless it's gotten considerably cheaper, it's even more expensive than the other two.

    Brian,
I don't know which NHT my friend got, but he got a pretty good price on it. The NHT is very musical and wouldn't mind using it for HT. As far as I know, the bang for the buck sub is the Adire Rava. Or you can build your own box and get a tempest [IMG]
