I have a JVC theater in a box system and the sub plugs directly into the wall. There are no switchable outlets on the back of the receiver. Nor is there an on/off switch on the sub.

This seems to be a waste of energy. Sure I can use a power bar to switch it off but should I have to? This seems to be a design fault.....is it?

    Thanks Brad

Brad, typically, powered subs go to a standby mode after a period of inactivity. In standby, they use a negligible amount of electricity.
