I have an old Sony DAV-HDX588W all-in-one surround sound system and newer Klipsch subwoofer R-12SW and during action movies like Transformers or The Mandalorian it’s pretty boomy even with my low settings (crossover 9 o’clock and gain 8 o’clock). Almost to point sounds muffled but can’t really tell.

I read different places that gain is normally around 12 and 1 o’clock. There’s no way in my case.

My subwoofer is connected by twisting together the speaker wires to RCA jack (left side only)

Any insights? Is there a device I can use to test correct levels?

Thanks,
Rodney

Don't connect the speaker wires to the RCA jack. Use something like this if you have no way to get a line out to go to your sub.

Even then, the settings can’t be set so randomly. There’s no way to know where they need to be without testing it.
