Subwoofer - carpet or not (1 Viewer)

I have wooden floors in my apt and I just got a down-firing sub. In general, will the sub be just fine on the wooden floors or will it sound better on a carpet?

My reading has said the only way carpet will affect how a sub sounds is if it is extremely thick. Like over 4" of underlay and carpet. Bass frequencies are just too long.

Carpet will have a much bigger effect on higher frequencies though. So hardwood will likely not be the greatest for speakers (large throw rug and some plush furniture could fix this).
