To questions here: What is a good point to tune a subwoofer box to? Is it generally better to get the tuning point lower? Also, I have an 18 inch driver that says its recommended frequency range is 38-3800 Hz. Is this a good driver to use in a sub or should I look for something that can go lower.

To get the best out a driver the t/s specs must be known.

Most PRO 18"s are not meant for HIFI lows and wont have high xmax.

you COULD just throw it into a box of known tuning, but how it reacts ,is unknown it may have a good or bad response.

We have tools to model the response, free for download thesedays
