I am getting ready to pound nails on my HT . i see that many build a sound stage with sand in it , why? my idea was that my svs subwoofer screwed to the bare wood of the floor would assist as a tactile transducer as well .... am i wrong? should i dampen the sub , and just use my basskickers?

I guess it depends on whether you're sensitive to that sort of thing. In a purist sense, you don't want objects in the room contributing to the sound, only the drivers. Others may find it quite stimulating, IOW, fun. Chances are though, it will "muddy" the sound. If you've spent hundreds on Basskickers, you might as well go all the way and do it right.
