Hi All,

I have an old Pioneer powered 12" downfiring subwoofer I want to break out of mothballs and use with my new Pioneer Elite VSX-01 receiver.

The sub (or the sub output on the original 90s era receiver) stopped working some years back and the sub hasn't been hooked up since. The left channel on the old receiver subsequently died and the receiver was history.

Question is this:
Is there any possibility of damaging my new receiver by hooking up this subwoofer to it? I don't know if the subwoofer was the problem or my old receiver but strongly suspect the old receiver.

This sub really cranked so would love to utilize it if I can.

Thanks for the advice!

I agree, try it out, you shouldn't be able to hurt anything if it is the sub, the receiver should have protection circuits to stop any possible damage from occuring.

Thanks guys,

I did try it and the old sub works fine. Sounds great in combo with the Klipsch Quintet SLs (highly recommend these for a smaller room 5.1 setup)...
