Is there a way to send subtitles to a separate screen so they are not displayed on the main screen?

Never heard of that before. If you don't want subtitles then just change the setting to remove them. Rarely are subtitles not able to be removed unless they are pirate copies.

Probably the only way to do it is to send the video signal to another display device, and cover the top of the screen.
