Is the SVS Black Box the only alternative? I am running a pro amp with a BFD and need to filter out frequencies below 16hz. I am looking for a less expensive solution than the SVS alternative. Of course if I cannot find one, I will get the SVS. Any input appreciated.

If you don't need the phase control or the voltage gain of the SVS box...the art351 has a 12dB/octave highpass that is adjustable down to 10hz. I think you can find it in the $99 range now? And, obviously, it can help tame any room peaks near the 1/3rd octave spacing.

I know I've seen some "DIY" highpass kits in the $50 range in the past...I'm sorry but I don't have the link(s).

Shoot, I've seen these little filters that basically plug onto the end of the RCA jack into the sub. F something or other. But they only go down to 20 Hz, and I believe that they do phase shift the signal. (You buy the specific filter for the freq that you want, and they come two to a pack.)

If you are handy with a soldering iron, you might try this.
