36 x 24 x 15 is 12960 cubic inches. Divide that by 1728 and you get 7.5 cubic feet. From your description that sounds like the gross size. Any enclosure size is net air space, not gross.

I know I cut your post to pieces to get this but this is 100% true. Pyle is crap.

meh ive heard pyle is decent i dont got $500 for a woofer sooo...ill start out small and upgrade

and if u take jl which is expensive and "high quality" the only difrence noticible (besides cone strength and mabye frequency) would be in order to get "pyle" to sound "close" to jl i would probably have a box 2-3 times bigger....i understnad that (dont bash me on other small parameters please i know its not exactly like that but you know what i mean thus the "close* jl would probaly still be mroe crisp etc..)

i jsut want to know what a decent box for this sub would be and if there is such a thing as to small of a sealed in enclouser for htis sub is (problem is my trunk is lony (at the smalest width towards the front) 38 inches wide by 16-19 inches high (with a stupid bar in the way to soo may present a problem) and arounr 45-48inches long..............

if it helps i have a 1996 pontiac bonevel or however u spell it...

Check out the forum name - Home Theater Forum. I suggest the following forums:
ICIXSound.COM Forums - powered by vBulletin
SSA Forums:
DIY Mobile Audio

And JL isn't the best value in car audio. They are good but price themselves for a premium market. One of my favorite subs is the Dayton 12" DVC. It's plain looking but will pound the crap out of you.

If you insist on sticking with Pyle, then build the largest box you can fit in your trunk.

I used Pyle back in 1988 when they still had a good reputation and I destroyed a pair of 15's with a 100w/channel amp. Since then their reputation has fallen to flea market / pawn shop / cheap Chinese import level.

I'm using subs similar to this. I also have experience with their other product lines as well as subs from [ULR=https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=15496eae18ac149/shopdata/index.shopscript]Fi Car Audio[/url] and a few other internet direct companies. With these small companies, you actually communicate with the owners and engineers. Not only does that help with your design, you can also learn a lot from these guys.
