Greetings,

I'm looking to purchase a new subwoofer and have been trying to research as much as I can on what to buy. I started at avsforum.com and then found this site. After reading and searching through both I have narrowed my list down. I know there are a ton of threads like this but my questions are slightly different.

I currently have an 8" Onkyo subwoofer that I plan on using with whatever new sub I get to help fill my room. The new one's I am considering after reading are:

JBL E250P
Velodyne CHT-12
HSU STF-2 (But didn't want to spend this much)
Dayton 10"

What would I be missing out of my sub if I went with the Dayton over the others listed? Or, would I gain much more out of a sub by getting one over the others?

Keep in mind that I plan on keeping the Onkyo and using it with the new sub.

EDIT: The room is around 500 sq ft.

Thanks for any input,
Shane

I'm ready to order the Dayton but was seriously looking at the JBL E250P so any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the response Wayne.

So the extra $100 spent on the JBL wouldn't be worth it then?

Being a novice I would just like to understand what I would be missing out on if I picked the Dayton over the JBL or others like the HSU STF-2 for example, since so many tend to like that sub.

I love to learn about all this and I have this site along with avsforum to thank for the great insight.
With that said, I still have much to learn. :)

After spending more time searching this site and then talking to one of the tech guys at parts express I ordered the Dayton 10".

The tech guy was very helpful in answering my questions about subwoofers and didn't try to play salesman which was great.

Another bonus was that they are shipping it out via UPS ground today and said it should arrive tomorrow. That is fast! I'm in southeast michigan which evidently isn't very far from them.
