I have the Dayton 10" Titanic II kit sub and right now it's placement is just fine. To save space I was thinking of putting my flexi-rack over it. By this I mean to raise the lowest shelf to a height allowing the sub space beneath it. The sub is now 1' off the rear wall and 2.5' of the side wall. Will having the rack straddle the sub affect the sound very much? I'm not looking for a boomy theater bass, I am happy with the tight, fast punch I now have since I listen to music(SACD & DVD-A &2 ch)more often. If I do it I just have to get a set of 5' rods.

If this is a front firing sub you'll be fine as long as the driver is beyond the edge of the shelf above it. The component above the sub might not be too happy being shook all of the time though. If you have a down firing sub I wouldn't advise it. Of course, you can always try it out and see how you like it.
