I’ve got a Luxman R-115 that I want to hook a sub to. It does not have a subout jack. It has a preout, but no main in. I know I could use the speaker outputs, but would rather like to feed a line level signal to it instead. Could I use the tape rec out jacks? It has in and out jacks for use of signal processor or similar device. Which would be better or what problems could there be?

    Thanks!

    Pre-outs for an external amplifier.

    Tom,

The pre-outs may work providing it is an amplified sub. Although you would have to rely on the sub's crossover for the bass management. If you already have the sub and a set of cables, try it. Start with the crossover about 80hZ and keep the gain down at first(the output voltage of the preamp jacks may be different from a sub out), and use the left AND right jacks (reciever and sub) because using one will loose the bass info from one channel.
