Silly lyrics, I throw down some ICP raps and see if theys any juggalos out here.

"They call me, Jelly-Jello boy

cuz my nut sack jiggles

and when it's cold out

my nut sack shrivels

and crawls up my booty-hole

warm and snug

and gets chased out

by the booty-hole bug."

How bout some GWAR!!!

"Since I was a Scumdog, I blew a cum-wad

I need a mutha-fucka-sucka-ding-a-ling-a-long"

These bands know they're silly and don't even try to hide it.

although I wouldn't call them "stupid" lyrics because I think the song is awesome I still think they're worth noting in this thread. The song is:
Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry (a two-man duo known for a pretty bad heroin addiction)
soon i discovered that this rock thing was true
jerry lee lewis was the devil
jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
all of a sudden, i found myself in love with the world
so there was only one thing that i could do
was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long
ding dang a dong bong bing bong
ticky ticky thought of a gun
everytime i try to do it all now baby
am i on the run
why why why why why baby
if it's so evil then?
give me my time, with all my power
give it to me all again (wow)
ding a ding a dang a dong dong ding dong
every where i go
everytime you tell me baby
when i settle down
got to get me a trailer park
and hold my world around
why why why why?
ding ding donga dong dong ding dong
dingy dingy son of a gun
half my time i tell you baby
never am I all for sure
why why why why why baby
sicky sicky from within
everytime I stick my finger on in ya
you're a wild wild little town bitch
now how 'bout ding a dang dong dong dong ling long
dingy a dingy dong a down
everytime you tell me baby
when i settle down
got to get me a trailer park
and hold my world around
why why why why?
in my dang a ding a ding a ding dong
a sticky sticky son of a gun
ding a danga danga dong dong ding dong
why why never know
why why wack a dong a dang ding dong
then you take it on the bill
ding dang dong don't dong
whoa!
i wanna love ya!
why why why, why why darling
do you do you tell me to play?
half the time I talk about it all now baby
you know what I'm talkin' about I said
why why why it'll
ticky ticky ticky ticky
son of a gun
ding ding dong a bong bong bing bong
ticky ticky thought of a gun
bing bing bang a bang a bang bing bong bing a bing bang a bong
binga bing a bang a bong bong bing bong bing banga bong
bing bing bang a bong bong bing bing binga binga banga bong
bing bing bang a bang bang bing bong
aarrrhhhh...
ding dang a dang bong bing bong
ticky ticky thought of a gun
everytime I try to do it all now baby
am I on the run
why why why
it'll ticky ticky ticky ticky ticky ticky
dawn of a gun
bing bing bang a bong a bong bing bang a
ticky ticky thought of a gun
bing bip bip a bop bop boom bam
ticky ticky through the day
if you got a doubt 'bout baby
the memory is on the bed
why why why why why
darlin' uh it don't know
when my time is on
might tell me never do it on his own
if my time was all as is yours
make me burn a wish
when my time with you is brutish
no I'll never not ever
why why why why why why baby heavy hell
alone and it's here it's this thunder
the thunder oh thunder
oh!
Don't get me wrong. The song is kick-A!

Darren --
I agree -- that song is a killer! (Though I think "Just One Fix" is an even better track off Psalm 69....) But I'm wondering if Gibby Haynes belongs to the same smack-head club as Al and Paul (he did do the singing there, didn't he?).
Although I love U2 to death, and despite the fact that it's a great song to see in concert (having seen it for myself twice this past tour), "Elevation" isn't exactly brimming with immortal lyrics:
A mole
Diggin' in a hole
Diggin' up my soul now
Goin' down
Excavation

In regards to CCR's "Bad Moon Rising"
Yes, the correct lyrics are "there's a bad moon on the rise." But the story goes that John Fogerty realized that fans often misheard this line as "bathroom on the right". So during live renditions of the song, John would insert the line "bathroom on the right" as a nice little joke.
Want proof? Listen to the CD Premonition. About 1:50 into the song, he says "bathroom on the right", LOUD AND CLEAR.

Soul Coughing's "Sugar Free Jazz"

normalize the signal and you're bangin' on freon,

paleolithic eon,

put the fake goatee on.

They also highlight the profound joy that Wesley gets from listening to and creating his music.
Phillip:
Agreed. Wesley Willis's music and lyrics may come off as a complete joke to most people (as much of it should IMO) but there is some poignancy about his struggles as a schitzophrenic that come out in the songs you mentioned.
My personal favorite has to be "I Kicked Batman's Ass" or any of his songs that mentioned Electric Eels.
The repetitive desperation in his lyrics, the very quality that causes people to crack up, scoff and shake their heads, is also kind of tragic and sad. I consider Wesley Willis to be an artist, the voracious kind, not some lazy Juliard trained rocker who inserts the words 'yeah' and 'baby' when he's run out of lyrical content.
While Willis may not have that sort of talent per se, he relentlessly expresses his state of mind regardless of public opinion, and his 'bad art' is socially relevant IMO.

You know, I don't know for sure, but I'm always thought that Wesley Willis is actually just faking it. Some of his stuff is just too funny for him not to catch it (Let's rock it to Russia!) and he just seems like he's in on the joke. I always thought it was a joke. Do any of you really know if he's got schizophrenia?

(And come on...artist? Being mentally challenged and singing about it doesn't make you an artist. "Batman got on my nerves. He was running me amok. He really killed me calling me a bum. I whooped Batman's ass," is not socially relevant art, in my opinon.)

Some of his stuff is just too funny for him not to catch it
But he does catch it. Pronounced schitzophrenics are capable of clever humor, making fun of themselves, and saying things in general that are just as random as Willis's lyrics. They are not necessarily incapacitated vegetables or people incapable of seeing the humor and irony in their work.
Willis may not be musically astute, or writing songs based on Tolkien legend, or contructing fifteen minute prog rock solos, but what he is doing is a response to his illness and his way of combatting it. That alone makes it 'socially relevant.'
Cheers,
Joseph

Well then, he should catch that every one of his songs is the same...

And art? I guess in the dictionary sense sure. But in the, "Good Music" sense? Not a chance.

Wesley Willis is great, I've loved his stuff ever since when I first heard They Kicked Me Out Of Church!

WW writes songs about lots of things. Many of his songs such as "I Whupped Superman's Ass", "The Chicken Cow",and "Suck My Doberman's Dick" are just funny joke songs, intended to be funny. Many tell stories about concerts he saw. Some are shout-outs to his friends. Some are stories of his struggles with his demons. Some are biographical (like "He's Doing Time In Jail").

Certainly I'm not catching the joke....you really, actually, honest to God, think that Wesely Willis is good, beyond just a cruel (albeit funny) novelty?

Most definitely, yes.

And if you truly think all his songs sound the same you should hear some of the stuff he did with his hardcore band the Wesley Willis Fiasco.

How about "So tell me what ya want, what ya really really want" "Yeah! I'll tell ya want, what I really really want!"

Spice Girls

And there are whole bunch of lame ass lyrics in today's "pop" music.

I'll chime in here:D
Duran Duran anyone??
They have some of the worst lyrics I can remember.
What was it in Hungry Like a wolf??
"I smell like I sound, I'm lost and I'm found, and I'm hungry like the wolf"?? Hehe I remember many a time laughing my arse off at how rediculous all their songs lyrics where.. Unfortunately I still enjoy listening to them

Here's another from Ray Wilie Hubbard, made "famous" by Jerry Jeff Walker:

He was born in Oklahoma

His wife's name's Betty Lou Thelma Liz

He's not responsible for what he's doin'

cause his mother made him who he is

So it's up against the wall Redneck Mother

Mother who has made a son so well

He's 34 and drinkin' in a honky tonk

Kickin' hippies asses and raising hell !

OMG! Those ICP lyrics are hilarious!

Well, I'd like to sat that LFO consistantly put out the worst lyrics EVER! But, they are a pop act so they don't count. Beastie Boy's "So Whatca Want" have some pretty bad ones in there as well.
