I saw this and was amazed that there really doesn't seem to be any specifics on whether this is a restored edition or not, depending on who and when the 4K was done and from what film elements? All this seems MIA? I love this film and I would love to upgrade from the current Bluray in my collection, but this lack of information kinda troubles me a bit. Great updated bonus features,

Does anyone have any additional light to shed? The steelbook packaging and graphics are nice, I would love any information to help fill in the holes on this release. I know the drop date is July 29th ~

Doesn't a lack of information usually mean there's nothing worth announcing other than the actual announcement itself? I've never seen this film but preordered a copy, based almost entirely on that cover art alone. Hopefully they've used a decent master if it is indeed an older master. I was under the impression that 4K releases necessitated a new scan by default but the lack of info here is indeed worrying.

According to IMDB this was made in 35mm spherical mono. I saw it in Tokyo in February 1972 (on a free afternoon during a theatre tour) at a Cinerama theatre and whilst remembering nothing of the plot I do remember that it wasn't my idea of Cinerama quality, picture or sound.

There appears to be a tradition of marketing this film above its technical pay grade and what's been said here on HTF would seem to support continuence of the tradition. Beginning with it not being suitable for Roadshow presentation there's now the possibility of an unsuitable transfer copied to 4K.

Further research required ........

It just makes me suspicious when upon a release, the studio dances around the elephant in the room. If anyone here is able to gain additional information would be great. I'll still be searching as well as the date draws closer.
