I decided to try tonight’s Eagles at Packers game live on Prime sine it said it would be 4K. One great thing I noticed is that it seems to have dvr style pause and resume, but I can’t figure out a way to fast forward back to live. I suspect this is because they don’t want people to skip commercials. You can stop the stream and go back to live. Still being able to pause and resume without missing anything is nice. You could do it during the first half, then stop the stream at halftime to get back to live.

What surprised me is the audio is two channel, and it’s not well mixed. In fact, after a couple minutes I went back to broadcast, since the Prime audio is so annoying.

    Anyone else have observations?

I didn’t see a 4K notice on Prime but the Fox Sports app was airing this in 4K.

A rep for the app was answering people on twitter.

This was a 1080p upscale and he said they hope to be adding 5.1 audio later this season.

Well i read the article and it does mention that.
Doesn’t say anything about Prime showing it in 4K but does say the Fox Sports app has HDR on it.
My tv didn’t indicate there was any hdr though.

The Fox Sports app and most if not all live sports on any app will not allow pause or rw including watching the games on Prime.

I most definitely was able to pause and resume using my aTV 4K to stream the game on Prime. No rewind or fast forward, but I most definitely paused it several times and resumed without missing anything. There might be a limit to the duration you can pause. I'm pretty certain Prime also said it was 4K.

Of course, that's a bunch of crap, since it turns out it's just upscaled 1080.

I tuned in tonight's game a little late (am watching the Montreal hockey game), but have it on between hockey periods via the Fox Sports app on my Roku Ultra. The picture looks a little sharper and more detailed than the HD telecast via Xfinity. No HDR, though, as I expected.

Is Fox airing hockey in 4K on the app?

I have not read anything regarding 4K hockey. Fox doesn't have the U.S. national broadcast rights to the NHL, though. NBC has those rights, so it would have to be through the peacock. Anyway, I watched last night's Montreal game via the NHL.tv app that I subscribe to, and the telecast was from TSN in Canada. You get to pick which team's local broadcast to watch -- in this case TSN (English) and RDS (French) for Montreal or whomever handles Carolina's local broadcasts out of Raleigh. I do not think any of the local Fox Sports channels that carry their NHL teams (or any regional sports networks for that matter) are capable of showing anything in 4K.

Oh I thought you meant the hockey game. I guess it was the football game.

    Misread the comment. Oops.

Re-reading my post, I can see where you would come to that conclusion. To quote the great and wise Daffy Duck, "Pronoun trouble"!

So just for kicks I’m watching tonight football game on prime.
It’s true that you can pause and resume but cannot ff to live or rewind.

There are also three audio options

    1. English
    2. Middle English (?)
    3. stk (?)

Middle English seems to be a British fellow doing PxP with a cockney accent guy adding color.

stk appears to be two woman doing the game.

Also I’m still not convinced that Prime is airing this in 4K.
Don’t see any indicators like the Fox Sports app has.

    Enjoying “Middle English”. Thanks!

No idea what “stk” stands for.

Damn. Wish I had seen this earlier. I would have flipped from the Fox Sports app to Amazon Prime just to hear commentary with a cockney accent!

The Alcs looks great on the Fox Soorts app upped 4K.
Apparently they just stay on the game during commercials and mute the feed.
During the top 7th pitching change it kept the mic live and Buck said “You don’t know how hard it was to not comment on all these number 2’s”

    Not sure what he meant.

Why streaming can be so frustrating:

I subscribe to NHL.tv so I can watch my favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens. So I sit down tonight to watch the Habs - Bruins game from our South Carolina condo on the NHL app via the Roku Express I brought with us attached to our 49-inch Samsung TV. I get denied due to blackout rules, as the game happens to be on NBC Sports. Unfortunately, we do not get that channel on the cable system at our condo. So, I try the NBC Sports app that is installed on my Roku. Well, that requires a separate subscription, even though I pay for NBC Sports on our Comcast account back in Michigan. I have a Comcast Xfinity app installed on the Roku, but that only works if the Roku is on my home Comcast network back in Michigan. So, I finally pull out my iPad tablet and use the Xfinity stream app on that device and can get NBC Sports and the game. So, I am forced to watch the game on a small tablet instead of a 49-inch display. Now, if the game had been on the NHL Network instead of NBC Sports, I would not have been able to watch it at all, because for some obscure reason Comcast will only let me stream that channel via any of their apps if I am on my home network back in Michigan.

It's no wonder so many people are dumping traditional cable for pure streaming. This is just stupid. If I subscribed to a streaming TV service such as Sling or Hulu, I could have just launched the app from my Roku and selected the channel instead of jumping through these hoops and being forced to watch the game on a tiny mobile screen.

Likely for Hannah Storm and Andrea Kremer, who are calling the game on that feed. Not sure what the t is, unless it's actually a +.
