my set up features mirage omni speakers and a HK avr 225 50w x 5
this last week ive been using some large gauge ebay cables, they are about 10-11 gauge terminated with gold bananas, prior to that i had acoustic research 16 awg bare wire. but i now have a strange occurance. when i shut off the system i hear a "Poof" sound, as if tightly enclosed air was pushed out very quickly, kinda like a low frequency pop.
i never had this sound when i used the 16 awg cables, is this from bad cable design? or could these cables be too large for my HK? i noticed a volume increase, with these cables too. what is that sound? should i be concered? maybe its my surge protector? im using a crappy old belking one right now.
