Does anyone know whether the Region 1 release of the thriller Strange Days has an anamorphic transfer?

I've seen a lot of non-anamorphic transfers since I got my 16:9 set last fall, and I have to say Strange Days is probably one of the best ones I've seen, right up there with Titanic. Sure they should give us anamorphic, but I'd say the current release is worth it for the less than $10 it can be found for lately.

I believe a Strange Days SE is in the works, no release date yet.

I just got this and have to agree with the above. Non-anamorphic, but it has a great transfer and watching this movie in 5.1 is a real treat.

The movie is a lot better than I remember it being when I saw it at the theater, but that was almost 10 years ago.

Not only is the DVD a disappointment, it has fewer extras than the laserdisc. I don't remember them off the top of my head, but when it first came out, a friend and I went down the features, comparing them to the laserdisc version, and the DVD came up short. So hopefully they will get it right.

Other than the lack of features, why is it a disappointment?

It's one of the clearest DVD's in my collection.

Non-anamorphic, reuses an old LD master and thick edge-enhancement.

The 5.1 audio is smashing, however. I'd happily buy a new release of the film.

I wish they'd use the Full bite rate DTS track from the laserdisc. That track is nuts.
