For those lucky enough to own one of StormAudio’s premium home theater processors, the company has made available a new firmware update, numbered 4.1, which will unlock DTS:X Pro decoding. It will allow up to 24 discrete channels to be decoded. All ISP MK2 owners can now access this update which includes an ‘Expert Bass Management’ feature allowing the creation of different bass “routes” in a room.
While DTS:X Pro is now available on the ISP MK2, decoding up to 24 discrete channels, StormAudio says there will also be a route to delivering 32 channels from the same hardware in the future. The DTS Neural:X upmixer and remapping engine has been re-designed to take advantage of the higher channel count, identifying those encoded in the bitstream and comparing them to the user selected speaker layout to intelligently upmix for all available speakers.
