Son of a gun, I was just about to post this. Good job Jason...
    A few major items:
    1) Television (!) campaign sponsored by Virgin
    2) Forty Licks assemblage of top hits from SACDs
    3) Very positive comments on Super Audio from Jody Klein.
This is going to be great!

Am I over my posting quota yet?
A couple of other firsts here for Super Audio mentioned by Ole Lund Christiensen, the respected Gamut designer:
    1) Let it Bleed listed at $12.98, a price breakthrough
    2) Let it Bleed now in Top 100 list for Amazon CDs, another breakthrough.
According to Ole, the high rez CDs have not yet cracked above 1400 before.
So this has to be due to the hybrid nature of the disc and Stones fans seeking the definitive collectors disc.
This can be duplicated with the Beatles and others. ABKCO owns the catalog for Sam Cooke, Phil Spector, and the Animals also.

    Yippee! [IMG] [IMG]
Now the only problem is figuring out what to get first: albums, compilations... so many choices!
Of the early stuff, I only own Hot Rocks- so, it's either re-buying Hot Rocks or getting into their albums. Let It Bleed seems to be quite popular. This is a good opportunity to get into some more obscure Stones stuff.

So where's the best place to order these discs?

Hmmm? If I had to limit it to four albums and one hits collection, I would go with
    Aftermath (UK)
    Between the Buttons (UK)
    Beggars Banquet
    Let it Bleed
(Those were what I would consider their "album albums")
    and the Singles collection.
(Those were what I would consider their "single singles") [IMG]
If I get a live CD, I'll take "Get Your Ya-Yas Out"
    Regards,

    Lee,
The article calls these disks two layer CDs. Isn't true that SACDs are DVDs? CDs are not capable of dual layers, right?
    Picky I know but.....[IMG]

SACDs are similar to DVDs, but not DVDs. There is no provision in the DVD spec for this kind of dual layer technology that I know of. It is an SACD exclusive. This is neato. I hope more stuff comes out like this. Hopefully something I'm interested in as I can't stand the stones personally.

I can't wait to see the Stones SACDs in the stores. It would be nice to actually walk into Best Buy and see people carrying SACDs to the registers...even if they don't know they are SACDs! [IMG] As Lee said, this is going to be great!
By the way, it's too bad Virgin isn't going to release 40 Licks on SACD. Still it will be nice to have a compilation with some later Stones material. I'll be looking for it.

Mike, if you were a true SACD fan, you would buy a player for the office. Of course, I haven't done that myself. [IMG]

I thought it was intresting and strange that the Stones have Chuck Leavell who led the group Sea Level and played with the Allman Brothers in the later dayz for keyboards on their tour.

I think LET IT BLEED and FLOWERS are the picks of the litter....
