No one's mentioned "The Wild North" from 1952, a very pleasing mountie adventure from '52 with Granger, Wendell Corey and Cyd Charisse. TCM's shown it once or twice - but with a reel missing, I believe. "Gun Glory" with Rhonda Fleming is another Granger western high on my want list.
The man had a booming career in Britain in the 40's long before he went to Hollywood. He has fine supporting roles in the excellent drama "Thursday's Child"(1943), which features a terrific central performance from 12 year old Sally Ann Howes and in the lavish color spectacle "Ceasar and Cleopatra" with Vivien Leigh and Claude Rains. "Thursday's Child" is available on a Region 2 Blu. But surprisingly the Leigh-Rains opus is not.
Also worthy of Blu release is the entertaining period romance "Blanche Fury" from 1948. Stewart Granger and Valerie Hobson star. And it's all in splendid Technicolor.
