Another one of the greats has departed this mortal coil:

He was my absolute favorite artist and I grew up with him. I was always hoping for more, but am thankful for what he gave us. Just wish I could have seen even one interview with him, but he was incredibly reclusive. There will never be another like him. RIP.

Sad to hear about this. He was a great artist. In the '80s I read ROM Spaceknight consistently and the later issues all featured his work.

What an amazing stylist and artist. I had every Spider-man comic 1-50, and especially loved his art for Dr. Strange. I'm glad the Dr. Strange movie picked up on his style and modeled the special effects universe stuff after it. He was such a recluse we hardly know much about him personally, and he never seemed a happy camper (especially with Stan Lee always crowing about 'his' creations), but I hope he knew how much fans appreciated him.

I know we don’t have a comic book section but shouldn’t this be inAfter Hours?

I think it’s appropriate here. Mr. Ditko’s creative work had a part in inspiring today’s filmmakers in creating a hugely popular and successful genre of films.

Ryan Mienerding, who creates much of Marvel Studios’ concept art for their films, made this piece as a tribute to Steve Ditko.

RIP Steve.
