He said it in a joking way. But I do think that he got married or at least engaged by what has been said, especially by his father. His father said "Don't put any credibility into what the NY Post has written, AT THIS TIME". Now we know how important words are to Stern the elder and I think he let the cat out of the bag with this carefully worded denial.

Oh, and there are torrent sites out there where you can find an MP3 of the soundcheck. I won't mention what is is because I'm sure that's against the rules.

I've listened to the New Year's Eve phonecall, as well as the two rehearsals. If the rehearsals are a preview of what's to come, the show on 1-9-06 promises to be INSANE!

The hilarity. The goofiness. The outrageousness. This may be the return of Stern to form. :D

I'm listening to it now...It's so awesome to hear the show again, everything sounds great! He has George Takei (or a guy who sounds exactly like him) in the studio all day as the show's announcer! Hilarious...

I was shocked to hear that yesterday (Sunday) Sirius had over 200,000 accounts activate.

So I planned my day out to catch the show opening. I'm in the Mountain time zone so I wanted to start on H100 then switch to 101 at 7AM to catch the West Coast start. I was so consumed with the press conference that I forgot to switch over...wow

What were some of the revelations?

#1 I cheated on my wife and she caught me.

#2 I once hid in my bathroom closet and pleasured myself
while some of my family members went to the bathroom.

#3 In the last year I got a girl pregnant and had to pay for her abortion.

#4 I think I'm addicted to porn. I masturbate twice a day and prefer it over real sex.

#5 I have spent well over $10,000 on internet porn.

#6 My buddy and I once ordered massage girls to our hotel room but they ripped us off and we were left staring at each other in our underwear.

#7 I have pleasured myself with meat and vegetables.

#8 I have a half sister I've never met and don't want to.

#9 I've had cosmetic surgery.

#10 A guy once blew his load on my chest.

#11 I once had my stomach pump for alcohol poisoning and when I awoke an acquaintance of the same sex was fondling my genitals.

Hey Now!!!!
Stern had a (Siriusly) funny program this morning!!
Mr Sulu (G. Takaei) is a riot!
I hope they can keep him on the show!
Arty had some of the funniest comments, especially without the bleeps!
The uncensored Pat O'Brian phone call was great!
When I have clients in the car and I know they don't want to listen to Howard, it's nice, that I can pause the show and record it on my sat receiver, so I don't miss a single word.
The revelations were great also!
Ya gotta love it!
Cheers, VB

Now everything is right in the world again with Stern back on the air. It was nice to laugh again in the morning after a three week layoff. I hope everyone enjoyed the show today, I sure did.

Here's a relevant article linked from the Stern site:

Sirius Satellite Radio announced a subscriber increase of 1,142,000 during the fourth quarter of 2005, and according to a new study from Bridge Ratings, 22 percent of Sirius' sign-ups during the week of October 3 alone were due directly to Howard Stern joining the satcaster. Bridge Ratings conducted surveys at retail outlets throughout the fourth quarter, and as Sirius marketing, awareness and the holiday season progressed, subscribers who signed on for Stern reached 58 percent in the week prior to Christmas. They topped 60 percent in the final three shopping days of the holiday season. The other reasons most commonly given for signing up for Sirius were "programming variety" and "no commercials."

Bridge Ratings projects that 715,000 of Sirius' fourth quarter sign-ups were due directly to Stern, and they also predict that during the month of January 2006, an additional 390,000 new subscribers will sign up to hear Howard. Bridge plans to continue monitoring the progress of Stern listeners on Sirius and will provide weekly trending and quarterly updates through 2006

You may be surprised to learn this coming from
me, but I did listen to a good majority of Stern's
first show with Sirius.

All of you know that although I spent 25 years as
a devoted Stern listener, I have not listened to him
since "the other guys" came to radio about 7 years ago.

I have always felt that Stern lost his edge after
his marriage broke up.

In any event, I decided to give the show a listen.

My opinion? I am somewhat impressed.

While I didn't feel the show was outrageously funny,
(except for one major segment), I must say that Stern
has a way of keeping a listener's interest. I thought
the show was paced very well and quite entertaining.

The inclusion of George Takei was a perfect choice.
I was amazed by George's sense of humor and
self-confidence as he was put under the gun about
his homosexuality. Honestly, I think George is
the best thing to happen to Stern since Sirius.

I was a little upset that Stern claimed that the
Pat O'Brien tapes were being aired unedited for the
first time on radio (The other guys played those
months ago), but I have to hand it to the genius
who integrated the phone conversations with Stevie
Wonder's I Just Called To Say I Love You.

The funniest thing I have heard in a long time?

The Tissue Time bit where the evil David Letterman
is having sex. The impersonation of Letterman
was "dead-on" perfect. For me, it was the best
payoff of listening to Stern's first day.

Ron evil Dave has been on the stern show for a while now he comes on there from time to time. the best is when they bring in evil Dave and they have jokes lined up for him to say and he he totally screws the lines up.as a stern fan , it is great to hear a more relaxed and not as much of a tight ass.

Ron,

How did you listen to the show if you don't have Sirius? Just curious.

Glad you enjoyed the show. I bet that must that must have hurt to complement anything Sirius related , since we are aware of your feelings towards them. ;)

You never know we may convert you yet.;)
