Its really easy to find information about home theater receivers; the problem is that my friend is looking for a good 2ch stereo receiver to run a pair of JBL S38s. What are some good receivers to look at? What are some key features he should look for? Anything he should know? He's replacing his old awai system thing and doesn't know what to look for...

    Thanks.

You can pu one cheap anywhere. JVC, Pioneer, Sony, Marantz, Sherwood, Kenwood,Technics,HK, etc. Most low end HOMETHEATER rcvrs are two channel with a computer chip for 5.1. JVC does this on all its models except the 9 and 10. In two channel mode they do very well. I have one in a bedroom. JVC 888//

Browse this board, there is a current thread on the topic. I recommend the H/K stereo receivers (I have a 3270 that is very good).

    Ditto for any HK

    Strong power supply, under-rated output.

    Great for stereo.
