Stereo inputs on sub, need to use both? (1 Viewer)

I have an Onkyo TX-DS595 and a Pinnacle Digital Sub 350 with Left and Right RCA inputs on the back of it. My question is, should I just run a mono cable into the Left or Right jack, or do I need to split it so the line from the receiver goes into both L and R on the sub? Would there be any noticeable difference?
