I just got my system hooked up a few weeks ago & I just noticed this watching Das Boot. At certain points in the movie the center(& somewhat in the mains) will output a static noise. One noticeable time was when the crew in the sub let out a loud cheer-right when they are cheering I get a noticable static noise coming mainly from the center channel. Is the a DVD error or do I have problems with my setup? Do dvds have bad recodings? My receiver is a Yamaha RX-v1000 & the center is a Polk csi245 with polk rt35i mains. Any help or suggestions is appreciated!

I've heard of this phenomenon. It's a Dolby Digital thing in most cases.

Try searching the topic.

Good Luck!

The Fifth Element and some other movies have the same problem. It is a problem at the encoding phase on the disk (with the compression).
