This arrived today - and although I've not had time to view the whole movie, I did get 30 minutes or so to look at key scenes.

    Only one word: BREATHTAKING!

The picture is up there with Attack of The Clones, maybe even better as this movie looks less like a cartoon and more film-like. It's a huge improvement on the previous releases.

The DTS sound is amazing. The asteroid scene is going to be my new demo scene - the bass is almost up there with The Haunting DTS.

    Highly recommended.

Agreed. When the federal Network logo came onscreen, I felt like I was watching HDef. Very clean although there remains a little grain here and there.

For some reason, I thought the title said "Super Troopers Superbit" and, for the life of me, I couldn't figure out WHY that needed a superbit.

So, would you recommend upgrading from the SE from a year back to the Superbit?

    Night and Day ?!?!?!

Damn!!! I really don't want to triple dip.

More 1st impressions please. Someone tell me it's not worth the upgrade. Although, if it really is that much better, that's great and I will bite.

I know, I know. I triple dipped too, and a really can say it's a wonderful, wonderful transfer. Blacks are spot on, and the colors seem to be the opposite of the new Halloween disc - richer, more vibrant, the image really jumps out at you and looks near 3D. Although there is no doubt that Clones is an amazing disc for picture (and sound), this just looks (and sounds) better. There is a fine amount of grain in some shots, but it really should be there, and adds to the effect of this dvd looking like film. Make that a Hi-Res film...

Sound is big improvement, with my rear centre speaker activated, the rear soundstage sounds up there with pretty much any es/ex mix I've heard.

If you like the film (and it is an acquired taste) you'll love the disc.

It might be worth keeping your other disc for the fun Verhoeven commentary.

Thanks a lot Richard. You just blew my weekly budget.

BTW, Great name. Is Hardbattle your real last name or just your gamertag? If so, do you know it's origin?

Yeah I watched this yesterday, and while I agree it is the best presentation of this film to date, it is nowhere near Clones imo. Anyway the transfer is by itself worth the upgrade, and even though the audio is a little dated, the addition of a DTS track is the icing on the cake. I have been wanting to hear this in DTS for years, and I can say the wait was truely worth it.[IMG]

Geeze...how did I miss this thread???

Oh well, I just started a new thread on this one...oops.

Anyway, this is what I was looking for! Sounds like I need to go to another Best Buy because mine didn't have any.

I am actually selling my Special Edition to make way for this Superbit. Can't wait to uh...find it somewhere.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Why sell the special edition? It has a pretty decent package of extras, and it's not like you'll get a lot of $$$ for it...

Yeah, but I just don't watch extras. I would much rather have better visual and audio then extras anyday.

Eh, got 12 bucks for it. Not bad considering I paid $17.99
