I like the concept STARGATE: EXTREME EDITION!

Just got done watching the entire of the Theatrical Version after having seen the Director's Cut and yes the Theatrical definitely looks to be from another film source! I was pleased mostly with the picture however there were some incidents of noticable film grain in certain scenes, but not throughout. There was also a "washed out" appearance to certain scenes too! Still a mostly magnificent job in comparision to previous releases!!

Why aren't both version treated (restored) equal in quality?

I guess it is very time-consuming to do so. Manhunter is also afflicted with a 'Director's Cut' that looks like someone videotaped it from the TV, and then made the DVD from a 3rd generation of the tape.
But the theatrical release looks great for its age. It's just missing scenes and stuff. Nothing important.
