Palpatine making Anakin was never confirmed. It’s fan fiction. Right?

That kiss is not a family member kissing thing! I just never bought there is a romance between them.

No, it‘s confirmed in a comic book. Some Vader issue, don’t know which.
But is never told in one of the movies, only hinted in RotS where Palpatine talks to Anakin in the opera house.

I don’t agree that it is hinted in episode 3. What is it said exactly in the comics?

If you ask me, this is something that should have been covered in the films. It's one of the saga's unresolved mysteries.

It's worth noting that Lucasfilm considers the comics canon.

The two best seats at my showing yesterday opened up that morning. So I grabbed them up and offered Them to my friend.

I initially had what I considered to be a favorable viewing spot for "Rise" IMAX 3D - about 4/5ths of the way back, just a little off center.

But then I succumbed to the reality of nearly 3 hours in the theater: I didn't want to have to climb over people any time I wanted to go to the bathroom or get a drink refill.

My AMC has a row of accessible seats that includes some "regular" seats as well. They're in pairs, so I got one of those 2.

A little closer to the screen than I'd have preferred and more off-center, but it was good enough - and I could leave the seat whenever I wanted without disturbing anyone!

It turned out fine in terms of viewing. If I'm too close to the screen, I find it tough to resolve 3D, but no issues arose...

That was a very humorous character that I liked.

Yup!

You asked about the character of ROSE and why so many people hate her,,,

I am going to give this a shot and I believe this is how the naysayers feel..

It was too obvious that her character was created to throw more diversity into the Star Wars universe. In other words, "We need an Asian let's throw this character in there."

Then it seemed like they didn't know what to do with this character.

She also is the center of one of the worst scenes in any Star Wars movie -- the casino planet. If there was ever a side story that just slowed a film down to a crawl it was this one.

I don't know if it was because her part was poorly written or acted, but she just didn't come off as being genuine. The character shows very little strength and just doesn' add anything to the mix. She just comes across as this brooding and annoying individual.

It has nothing to do with her being a woman or Asian. I think it's just that it's so blatantly apparent she was thrown in there as a token character and they did not know what to do with her.

The casting and the character are separate. There's nothing about the Rose character that means she needed to be played by an Asian actor.

If people dislike the character, fine. I have no problem with her, but that's up for interpretation.

Complaining that Tran was a "diversity hire" as part of the reason people dislike the part? That's different...

But since Shmi's already pregnant when Palps messes with her, didn't there have to be another father?

Or did they roll with the "immaculate conception" notion from the movies?

I am not speaking definitively for others. I am not 100% sure where the hatred is from.

I am assuming it's the way the character was played. Rose was a horrible character that brought nothing to the trilogy.

For me, I could care if she was Asian or a woman. However, I think Asian was a purposeful hire.

The character, for me, sucked. I am assuming that was the same reason for a lot of others as well.

It's worth noting that that's what Vader sees in a vision (Star Wars: Darth Vader issue 25) BUT it's not stated as a fact or a direct flashback. That being said, I don't see how anyone watched the Palpatine/Anakin scene in ROTS and not take exactly the idea that Palaptine created him away from it. It echoes Vader being Luke's father (and now echoes again with Palpatine being Rey's father). Also, I think Lucas states it in a special feature on the ROTS discs.

Another thing I noticed is by the end of the movie, I think Finn began to feel "The Force". Anybody else pick up on that?

Yes! I need a 2nd viewing, but I thought there may have been some hints earlier in the film as well...

Also, way back to TFA, when one of the trailers showed him with a lightsabre, I thought he was going to be Force-sensitive... a bit of foreshadowing, perhaps?

I suspect the casting may have also been an attempt to make inroads into China as I understand Star Wars never really caught on there. Who knows. It’s clear that JJ/Kennedy wanted a diverse cast though, so maybe there’s no other specific purpose to the casting.

The casting itself means nothing to me, I just didn’t really care for the character. I addition to what I already mentioned, I think they made her a little too “cutesy”, like she was written with kids in mind. I’m kind of remembering her “YIPPIE!!!!!” Expression when riding that space horse.

That's exactly the issue for me.

I had no issue with a black Stormtrooper. The character of Finn was an exceptional one.

I had no issue with a black woman being introduced into this installment. Her character was strong and likable.

No issue with an Asian character, but when that character adds nothing to the story, is poorly acted and pretty much "cutesy" and broods through the entire role I think it turns everyone off.

I dunno. There was a lot of backlash against Rose and I am guessing it was more the character than her being Asian.

...but what do I know.
