In a universe with 200 year old Wookiees and 900 year old Jedi masters, 72 isn't that old.
Man I hope this isn't true. Maybe this time he'll be able to convince JJ that Han Solo needs to die.
I think it would be great if Han Solo had a scene where he shoots first.
I'm hoping that 72 yr old Han Solo will train Han Solo Jr to face off against Boba Fett Jr from the prequels. From there, they can spawn the Star Wars Babies series.
I think the forthcoming Star Wars Detours series is that already. If it hasn't been scuttled by the Disney deal that is...
Interesting comments by Mark Hamill:
"They're talking to us," he reveals. "George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts - they would write us out. ... I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm."
I've got a bad feeling about this. I do like his idea about using the right balance of cgi and practical effects. I really wish The Hobbit had done this.
Asked whether members of the original Star Wars cast will appear in Episode VII and if he called them before the deal closed to keep them informed, Lucas says, “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” He pauses. “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” Then he adds: “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
Great article. I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for posting.
I found the following absoluetely fascinating that Dark Horse will release the following :
Could just be another April Fool's Joke ofcourse
I don't believe that's an April Fool's joke. They're really adapting the original screenplay.
Not sure I like the idea of these spin off movies, this is going to be Young Indiana Jones all over again. I've tried and tried to enjoy the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles but I just don't think they are that good. I wish they'd used the Knights of the Old Republic time frame and craft some movies out of that stuff.
Best name check set in a hilarious one take.. yes, it's Park & Rec, but dead on to Star Wars.
Latest from Disney: A new Star Wars film every summer.
Stand-alone films will alternate with trilogy films. Sounds like a good plan.
I'm not opposed to all these spin off movies but I just hope that they focus more on story and characters than the cgi. I'm soooo sick and tired of all the in your face cgi. It really needs to be toned down. They can make a good Star Wars movie without a huge budget.
If they are going to release one a year, not sure how good the special effects can be. Seems like a rush. They'll have to rely on story to make it work.
I wouldn't worry about it. Episode VII is two years away and the first spinoff is 3 years away.
I would think that Disney cheapening out on the visual effects of a Star Wars film is the least of the worries.
JJA on the BBC:
With Abrams... no worries... It'll just be an alternate timeline. That way they are free to write any tripe they wish.
