My sister bought Star Wars Episode One for my cousin's birthday and it won't play on his player....the menu keeps repeating over and over. She tried it on three different players and no dice. She took it back three times and still no play. Target played it on their dvd player and it worked. It also worked on mine. Target won't give in store credit....what should we do?

    I don't get it.

She has 3 different DVD players (different brands) and it didn't work on any of them? What kind of brands are they? And she's already tried 3 different copies and none of them played?

But it played on yours? Tell her to sell it to you, if you don't already have it.

I am a bit surprised that Target has a no
refund policy on DVD purchases. Just because
it plays on "their" player doesn't mean it
will play in all ... though I am also surprised
that you had problems with three different copies
on three different players (there is something
    very wrong with that).

Contact customer service at Fox home video.

I pulled this from the website:

If you purchased a product from a retailer and there is a problem, please return the item to the retailer. If you were told to contact the manufacturer, then please email foxdrop@4icc.com or call 1-888-223-2FOX. FOX

I would give them a shot.

Try hitting the enter button instead of play.

As far as I know, every store has a no refund policy on opened DVDs. Why are you surprised that Target doesn't stray from the pack?

I even asked them for in-store credit and they said no. So, I guess my sister is going to sell it on ebay.

It's standard policy for "same title only" exchanges on "defective" DVDs. Maybe talk to the manager and tell him you'd be willing to bring in your DVD player to prove it doesn't work...that'd be a lot of trouble though.

take it back to Walmart for an even exchange

Did you try navigating through another movie using the same remote.

I'd try the same. I don't know enough about your situation, but did you try pressing enter? Menus do generally play over and over until the viewer chooses an option. Is there something wrong with the functionality? Are you allowed to select any other options? What repeats over and over - the main menu or animation?

I tried using the enter button. You can't choose any options. The menu itself keeps playing over and over.

I know it's a Toshiba, but I'm not sure the model. AFA my cousin's player, I'm not sure. Mine is a Panasonic, and it plays fine.
