I just bought seasons 1 and 2 of the original Star Trek series on DVD (Region 1) and was dismayed to discover that the playing surface of several of the discs in both sets are marked in some way (none of them were loose).
Some discs have small scratches (they don't appear to affect performance) around the edges, some have scuff marks, some appear to have 2-3 fingerprint marks on the playing surface!
A couple of the recent Star Trek movie SE discs were the same. Certainly "The Undiscovered Country" and "Generations" were scuffed. I bought a second copy of TUC and the second set was almost as bad as the old.
I bought all of the above (brand new and sealed) from Amazon.com and can't send them back unless there's something actually wrong with the playback. But surely its not unreasonably to expect spotless discs when paying $90 a set?
Has anybody else got the same problems?
John
