Is that Trelane?! Are they finally going to answer officially (not in a book, not in a comic, not in a video game, but officially) the question of whether he is a Q?

Trailer looks great. This series can do no wrong (or at least hasn't so far). Shame we lost The Lower Decks, but glad to still have SNW.

Trailer was a bit too spoiler-ish for me, but no one twisted my arm to view it. Really looking forward to season three. The final shot shows the Big E engaging multiple Gorn vessels (from S03E01 no doubt.)

Looks like they're trying to approximate the original series's "let's make an episode out of whatever sets and costumes from failed pilots and other series that we happen to have on hand!" storytelling model this year.

Interesting that there appears to be a TNG-era Holodeck at 1:03. Love that we're apparently getting a live action Edosian finally with the bartender. I'm wondering if Patton Oswalt's character is Sybok.

If Rhys Darby is playing Trelane, and the sideburns and attire definitely seem to be pointing that way, his snap of the fingers certainly seems very Q-like.

TAS had one, didn't it? And Enterprise encountered one early in it's run. So the tech is out there somewhere.

As for the trailer...really kinda meh. But we'll see when the episodes hit.

I don’t think this is new news, but as I had Good Morning America on this morning while getting ready for work, I saw a commercial with Captain Pike, and then he was talking to Sponge Bob! It was the first time seeing it, then I see Uhura and then Spock.

Paramount has announced a fifth and final season of Strange New Worlds. It will be a shortened season (only 6 episodes). (That's 26 more episodes to come - which means they will give us in three seasons what Next Gen and DS9 gave us in one.)

On one hand, it shows confidence in the show, since the third season hasn't even premiered yet. On the other hand, it sucks, because it is a great show and I wanted to see it go on longer. I guess in the age of streaming, five seasons is about the best you can hope for.

Agreed, but (and I have not heard anything to this effect) there is still the possibility of the cast transitioning to one or more feature films after season five. At least I hope that is a possibility.

What are the chances Paramount is considering a continuation of Strange New Worlds as a new show that is effectively a "reboot" of the Original Series, with Kirk played by Paul Wesley? Even if the chances are low, that has to be written on a white board somewhere on the studio lot.

I would love that, but I doubt it, since what I have read says the show will seamlessly transition to the Original Series.

Five seasons seems to be the "magic number" for Paramount+ and Trek in most cases (Prodigy notwithstanding). I won't say I'm surprised. These shows aren't cheap and they take forever and a day to produce because of the effects they think are required. Spoiler Alert: they're not.

Then there's the continuing drama around the Paramount and Skydance deal and Paramount layoffs.

But I'll also say: I don't want a reboot of TOS. Give me something brand new. I know that costs more and will introduce more risk/uncertainty, but that show will invariably compared to TOS...and nothing good comes of that. Strange New Worlds has the advantage to Jeffrey Hunter's Pike was seen for a grand total of (roughly) three televised hours.

They need to get Starfleet Academy launched and really figure out what they want to do next, if anything. (And more streaming movies could be fun...just a much higher quality than Section 31.)

If SNW has to end, I'm hoping ST Legacy takes its place, while the SNW crew go on a 10-year mission to save theatrical Star Trek.
