I have an idea. How about Star Trek made-for-tv movies? I'm thinking this would be a great way to see characters return to Trek that will never get to be in feature films. Also, these films could fill in gaps in Star Trek history, such as Enterprise B or C. They could air in the summer months when "Enterprise" is on hiatus, and it would give Trek fans a little more variety. Just an idea.

Michael, the problem is the start-up costs for Trek. The standing sets are VERY expensive, and not all of them are stored. I'm sure someone has thought of it

I read somewhere that they re-dress a lot of sets for episodes of the shows. I see no reason not to do the same for this.

Yes, they redress sets they already have. The problem is that now they don't have places to put them

Star Trek shoots on the same stages at Paramount, and they take down one and build another.

I've sort of wondered why they didn't do any direct-to-video/TV "Deep Space Nine" movies. I seem to recall reading that the sets were stored, as opposed to struck, and most of the cast could probably be convinced to do it.

I thought I read around the time of the DS9 finale that the sets were destroyed, but I could be wrong (I hope I am). A DS9 TV movie or mini-series would be great, especially since every cast member seems excited to do a big-screen feature do based on the latest I've read. Hopefully, they would settle for something on TV if that ever became a possibility.

How about a Ken Burns-style documentary on a subject like the Dominion War or a history of the Federation?

The hard to fabricate parts of DS9 were stored. The windows, most of the fixtures at Quark's, the signature pieces. The rest was struck. The promenade set was HUGE, no way it could be stored.
I'm sure we'll see some non-Worf Niners in ST 11
Dr. Bashir and Kira are not only married, but really the only people left on the station when it ended [IMG]

I hope you're right Jeff. I'd really love a DS9 movie but I'd settle for a mixed cast if I had to. [IMG]

Actually it was Kira and Jake. The only main people left on the station were Kira, Bashir, Ezri, Nog, Quark and Jake
