I read the paper back. That seems like a long long time ago. I also remember seeing the cover of the novelization for Wrath of Khan before the movie came out and thinking "he doesn't look much like Khan with that white hair.

Very nice! You prompted me to look through my Trek paperbacks that I haven't looked at for years. I have the TMP paperback, but don't think I'll re-read it. Roddenberry wrote some embarrassing prose, as I recall.

I don't have the paperback, but I read the ebook version a year or two ago. I don't remember it being especially well written, but it's a nice, different perspective on events we already know.

If there’s an ebook, I might have to get that too!

I will never understand why they ditched the original poster art on the last blu-ray releases. TMP, II, & III art was amazing.

Thanks Neil! Didn’t know about the 40th Anniversary Edition of the novel.

Bob Peak’s artwork on the Star Trek poster art is and has been great work!

I saw the news blurb, Viacom and CBS has agreed on reunification.

Hope this means a lot of good things for Star Trek.

When I started a Trek podcast about 3 years ago, I commissioned a friend to do a tribute to that Peak art I loved so much. I was also the lone defense of Tmp in our pilot episode back in the day.
For Trek blu ray fans we did an episode interviewing Roger Lay Jnr who produced the TNG remastered and many other great BTS content for Star Trek TV and Wrath of Khan. We both bemoaned lack of Tmp director's ed too!

There used to be a great website that had full details of every Star Trek novel published and the differences in each printing. It even had details on canceled books. I wish I could find it again. Good resources without ads are rare today. I remember reading that a limited run hard back edition of TMP signed by Roddenberry was released.

Bob Peak’s artwork for the poster for TMP is my favorite movie poster of all time. Peak was a master of the form. I don’t think anyone was ever better.

2E93B59C-0032-409C-8BBF-EE992378888C. Hope some of you guys were aware that last year Artphoric has exclusive rights to Bob Peak’s art and did a limited run of the original Star Trek The Motion Picture poster art. I was able to order a print though I still need to frame it. The print is cool in that Shatner is on the right and higher up then Nimoy.

That hardbound signed copy of the novel is cool! Wished I had gotten one then!

As they pointed out, that's not the final art.

I tried for three days to order that poster through the website. I had nothing but errors and was only able to get to it once the poster was sold out. As beautiful ,and iconic, as the Bob Peak art is for TMP, I still love the advance poster with the alternate re-design of the Enterprise.

True it’s not the final art Neil. It is cool though.

Darin, that advanced poster is very cool too. I’ve been meaning to try to get a copy!
