Thanks Josh, that’s great news. The Enterprise sets I hope still exist. Though I realize the Short Trek could take place anywhere and anytime. Perhaps during the Cage? :)

I dont think you can base any production rate predictions on what happened last year. From what I thought I heard/read, they had started shooting then things blew up with the showrunners after at least the first episode was in the can. Then they regrouped and finished the season.

I find the idea of individually rating episodes from a serialized story about as useful as ranking individual chapters in a book. I don’t really understand the point of it.

Probably just to give all the negative-Nellies something to complain about. Seems like a certain segment of Star Trek and Doctor Who fans are a lot alike.

Why would it displease some fans? What are they expecting that isn't included?

Only two of the four Short Treks appear to be on the set - but not a dealbreaker for me.

Oh, wow! i didn't notice that. That IS pretty disappointing and VERY strange. I'll still buy it, of course, but I wonder why they left the other two off.

The two they’re including relate directly to this season of Discovery, and the others didn’t. That’s the only thing I can think of.

Still strange, as all of them are still Discovery related. Maybe they wanted to keep something exclusive to CBS All Access, but I still find it disappointing.

I agree that it’s disappointing but with that said I’m glad the show is getting a disc release at all and especially a Blu-ray. Most shows today aren’t getting this kind of treatment so I’m just glad I’ll have this on disc. This was the most exciting time I’ve had watching new Trek live on TV since TNG so I’m glad to have the keepsake.

Since we already got Season One on Blu, I expected this, so while glad, I'm certainly not surprised. And I very much looked forward to DS9 every week for seven years. Voyager and Enterprise, not so much.

Yes, I can see that the blu ray content of only two of the short treks is because they have a direct connection to the season arc. Though I thought Calypso did have a connection, sort of. Maybe it was a red herring.

It's possible Calypso plays a role in season 3 (no clue about the exclusion of The Escape Artist--maybe it has some future implications, too?).

Frankly it could be a residuals thing. If the leads from Calypso (Craft and the computer's voice) are going to be in season 3, why pay the actors for sales for season 2 blu-rays? The Short Trek episodes themselves are notoriously hard to find on streaming platforms, so there is limited exposure on direct views. Toss the episode on the season 3 blu-ray

I know, “mother pin a rose on me”, but suspecting something like this, I have already burned these shorts to DVD.

The people at the Trekcore website said they are trying to contact CBS and find out if it's just an error in the press-release, or if the other Short Treks are actually being left out of the actual set. Though, yeah, I can totally see why they'd maybe leave "Calypso" out of this particular release, given that it ties into the upcoming Season 3 (and has yet to be placed into greater context with the events of that season).

JoshEh, Josh Dial, you make a good point that Calypso’s connection to the third season may not have been fully revealed yet. Though why did they show it then and then not include it on the blu ray and DVD releases? Not to disagree with your theory, I think it makes a lot of sense. Something will cause the events in Calypso will occur and we just don’t know what that is yet.

At least all four short treks are there to watch on CBS All Access if one wants to.
