During the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, Spielberg announced in a speech that he was "mounting a large production" at the premium network, HBO, to turn Stanley Kubrick 's Napoleon into a seven-part limited series. Spielberg is producing the series in co-operation with Christiane Kubrick and Jan Harlan.

Well, that's pretty damn exciting. Kubrick did once imagine it as a 20 part series...that was news to me.

Last I had heard about this was from Cary Fukunaga who said he was the director on the project. That was about 6 or 7 years ago though. I don't know if he is still on it, but the cool thing was to hear Spielberg mention that he was still working on it and that it is nearing getting underway.

Ridley Scott will beat them to the screen with his Napoleon film but it is such a large topic, to me, that does not matter.
