My HT room is a slightly L-shaped. The front portion is about 17'W x 16'L x 8'H. The back portion is 20'W x 12'L x 8'H. The result is a room that's 17'x28'x8', with some extra width in the back where I've put my DVD racks.
    My subwoofer is a Velodyne FSR-15 - a servo-controlled 15" model.
This room suffers from a standing wave. There is a narrow frequency range that is strongly reinforced by the room, making it probably 10dB louder than it 'should' be. I tried moving the sub around, but that did nothing about the standing wave.
Would going to a 2-sub system (excuse to sell a Velodyne and upgrade to dual SVS subs) cause some partial cancellation that would even out the in-room response? Or should I forego the hardware upgrade and head over to the "Building a Home Theater" section to find out about room treatments?

You could get something like a Behringer Feedback Destroyer and equalize the sub to eliminate that peak too? Cheapest option of all, I think, at less than $200 (I think).

My ART 351 has my L shaped room down to +-6 db, down from +-16 db.
    EDIT - UPDATE
After more experimentation, I'm down to +-4 db from 20 HZ to 85HZ, the crossover being at 80.
