I am just a new b. and was wondering what the difference between the two technology's. I have a Pioneer 563A and just recently purchased a Panasonic S97. I have a Sony 50XBR-1 just recently purchased. I'm not sure if I notice a difference in PQ between the two players. Also it seems that when I upconvert to 1080i there is some picture noise with the Panny. I want to know if I'm doing something wrong or do I have bad equipment. Please comment.

Im assuming that your TV is 1080i. Either your player or your TV has to convert the signal to the resolution of your TV. Sometimes the TV does a better job and sometimes the DVD player does a better job. I would fiddle around with it a bit and go with what looks best to you. If you think something may be wrong with your player I would contact the manufacturer or dealer and discuss your problem.
