Do you absolutely have to have stadium seating, regular seating, or no preference when you go to the movies ?

me: no pref...I was raised with regular seating, and stadium seating is pretty cool since it took off in our neighborhood a few years ago, so it makes no difference to me; it has had no effect on me *yet*

Stadium seating allows you to have a better view of the screen, but are found in multiplexes, which I hate. It seems like movie theater screens are getting smaller and smaller.

To tell the truth I would rather watch a movie at home. [IMG]
But to answer your question, I prefer stadium seating because I always seem to get behind a tall person when I go to the movies. Stadium seating makes that a non issue.

After my recent third viewing of LOTR click HERE to read about it, I definatley prefer Stadium Seating! Especially since I am shorter than the average male, practically everyone gets in my way. Not to mention during that last LOTR viewing in regular seating some guy had his head block 2/5ths of the screen and it was starting to give me a headache.

Stadium Seating any day...for the first time in years I went to the local Cinema to see LOTR. I was soo uncomfortable and crowded (felt like the seating area was actually smaller)...Aside from the fact that I was waiting for some killer surround sound effects and they just werent happening (bass was subpar too). Not that that has anything to do with the seating arrangement but the whole experience just sucked...Ill have to go see LOTR again

Stadium seating all the way, baby! Call me picky, but for some reason I prefer to see the entire screen when watching a movie, and not the back of some lady in a beehive hairdo.

I think the stadium style theaters are cool, but I like to sit so close that it doesn't really matter.

Stadium seating preferred. If not that, at least a floor that slopes down toward the screen, so that seats are higher as you move toward the back of the theater.

Definitely stadium seating. I've been to a few "old style" theaters and the problems keep cropping up. A person in front of you can't adjust their eyeglasses without distracting you.

Stadium seating for me. Plus, I like the seats that have chair arms that raise so I can get a good snuggle going with my girlfriend. [IMG]
Okay, I lied, it's so I can take advantage of the 60/40 split that naturally happens when we snuggle but don't tell her that. [IMG]

Add me to the Stadium Seating group. I'm tall and I feel bad when I block people behind me so I end up slouching down in a regular theater which doesn't do much for your legs or back.

Plus the stadium seats are high back and I can actually rest my head on the seat.

Stadium seating is more comfortable, and yes, it eliminates obstructed views, but I actually prefer to look UP at a movie screen than down at it (or straight at it).

Plus, if you get a seat kicker behind you in a stadium style theater the f*cker is kicking you right in the back of the head and I HATE that.

Stadium seating is the only way to go for me. I'm also shorter than the average male and I used to hate going to the old style theaters. I always ended up sitting behind a taller person and it was very frustrating.

I prefer a regular slanted auditorium. Stadium seating is great for 70mm and IMAX, though.

I agree with Tim with looking UP at a movie screen is great in a regular auditorium, but I love the fact that in a stadim seating theater you are GUARANTEED to see the whole screen.
Here in Victoria though, the better sounding theaters are the flat sloped ones. Go figure.
