Yep. I’m almost done season two.

Just saw Blythe Danner’s run of several episodes.
I don’t think that her and Daniels had any scenes together though.
They had plenty of screen time together in 1776.

Ok, “actual” screen time together.

There was that and this and this so I guess I’m a little confused at “sorta”.

As well you should have been confused.

I had confused Blythe Danner with Virginia Vestoff (who played Abigail Adams). I was thinking how most of their screen time together was of the split screen variety.

Sorry for that confusion, Tony.

I was thinking you might have been, thinking that.
I figured it would work itself out.
The Adams did do a few split screen scenes but they did a handful as a sort of dream like foggy state on screen together.

S2e22

Hello and goodbye.
Helen Hunt’s first appearance. She nick named Morrison -> Boomer.

First appearance of a character from another show and Boomer taking Pete to Cheers to get lunchbeginning the shared universe.

This ep didn’t have a previously on or Tonight on prologue and felt more like a season opening ep and not a season finale ep.

I may have too, I don’t remember.

Joan Halloran’s speach about getting fired and it being to late for Westphal to help her out was almost like what she might have said to actually being fired from this show. It was very meta.

One more episode to go in Sn. 3.

Episodes 20, and 21-"Amazing Face", and "Murder She Rote"(I freaking love Dr. Craig) may be the best in the series. I can't remember because 30 years is a long time. But yeah those two episodes are simply extraordinary. This show was a "critics darling" series, but it should be more than that. It should be required viewing for anyone that likes quality television programming. I'm so glad Hulu has it.

Even though there are still bits of gold to be found in the last episode of season three, it wasn't the best.
I can't stand that POS sitcom Cheers. I can't stand when such a wonderful show gets hijacked by that crappy excuse for a sitcom

Season 4 started off just OK, but there are 23 episodes left so I'm happy.

So, how's the video quality of St. Elsewhere on Hulu? I always loved the show and was tempted to buy one of the "homemade" DVD sets but was wary of the quality, though I have an official Season 1 DVD set.

It ranges from really blurry to only a little blurry.

That’s the first three seasons I haven’t watched anything after that yet.
It was always a little hazy even when it aired.

One thing I’ve noticed is lwhatvooks like a camera lens affect on corners of the image once in awhile.

In other words the corners are darker then the rest of the screen as if the video was shot through a circle and cropped square but leaving the corners still on screen.

If I remember I’ll take a pic next time I see it.

Seems like that is the way the show aired originally. I used to have VHS recordings and I always wondered about that. I also remember the digital clock running for a few seconds (10 maybe) after the show returned from a commercial break.

It’s really a shame that a show with this pedigree was never properly mastered for home viewing.

S3e2

Dr Craig turns in the tv to see what’s on.
It’s the Merv Griffin show. Craig says probably some stupid comic is on.

It was Howie doing his stand up act.
Craig says, “what’s he wearing a hand? Turn it off.”

Season 3 episode 8 Sweat Dreams.

I don’t know how they managed to keep the ZZ Top Song Legs in this ep.
The real music the real car and even the real girls from the music video.

The dream Jack has was missing the Led Zep song though.
The sound alike song was pretty close.

Jack’s dream was chilling.

His talk with Peter White is fascinating as it really is essentially Jacks own subconscious that he is talking to and then the end of it when Peter has on the ski mask and what he says.

It tells us what Jack really thinks of Peter White.

My memory tells me this was the ep that Westphall also had a dream and it was Tommy coming to talk to him as if his autism is completely gone.
Must have been a different episode.

It is positively obscene that this great show has never been given its due on home video - NO DVD, and NO BLU-RAY. Endlessly quotable/watchable moments and some of the finest situations, writing and ensemble acting ever committed to the small screen. It doesn't get any better than St. Elsewhere!

Crying shame that ER (the far inferior [IMO] 90s show has every bit out on DVD), and St. Elsewhere can't get past the first go (and might never)!

Guess I’m going to have to get Hulu. I watched season one on dvd and am hooked.
Unbelievable it wasn’t released on disc except for the first season.

It did get a DVD … for season 1 and nothing else. I bought it, so don't blame me if it didn't sell. If these masters are all they had without going back to negatives for a full remastering — and dealing with a switch to a film-to-tape edit workflow about halfway through — then no wonder Shout! doesn't want to deal with it. Add in the cost of music rights and you can see how much of a challenge it is to make a profit on releases like this.
