I have seen a lot of recommendations for using a tube pre-amp and a SS amp. What about going for a SS pre-amp and a Tube Amp combo. A combination I am looking at getting is a Bryston BP 25 pre-amp and a BAT VK 75se amp. The reason I am choosing this combinations is that with the Bryston you get a very good DAC so I can use my so..so Pioneer Elite 45a as a transport and use the DAC in the pre-amp. Also the Byston gives me a lot of flexibility for future upgrades (has both balanced and RCA inputs/outputs). The reason I would like to use a tube amp is because I love the soundstage they produce. Any feedback/comments with respect to mixing a SS pre and a tube amp would be appreciated.

There are people that think that a SS preamp and tube amp gives you more of the tube sound than the other way around my dealer being one. Just make sure that whatever tube amp you buy doesn't need a high gain preamp which most SS or passive preamps aren't.

    Good luck!
