This may have been answered before I am sorry if it is a repeat, but I have a question regarding the location of the Sub driver and ports.

Will there be any difference in the sound quality with a dual ported sub in a rectangle enclosure if:-

1: The driver is facing forward bottom 1/3 of cabinet and ports facing forward side by side top 1/3.

2: Turn cabinet upside down so driver is above ports.

3: Driver in centre front and ports either side of driver.

4: Put ports on the back of the cabinet.

I am trying to understand when the ports are together or apart do they have any input to sound quality, and if either side of the driver is this a better method.
When the driver is closer to the floor, does it have more interaction?

Same side as wooofer beside woofer and u could pick up a few db in volume
2 Ports can help prevent port noise or chuffing from low Frequency
I prefer 4 inch ports overall or a slot port[IMG]

most porting is all the same, however, i would stay away from putting the ports directly behind the driver as is possible in option 4. not sure how much more loading if any placing the driver near the floor would have. good luck,

Thanks Luitz & Eric for the replys!

Okay so I will go for driver in the cenre and 1 port on top and one port under driver all facing front. I just wasn't sure if the ports placed next to each other had a bearing on SQ.

    Thanks again
