Has anyone heard any news regarding the possible reissue/remastering of Springsteen's catalog? I'm specifically curious about a reissue of TUNNEL OF LOVE. I actually have the cassette and have put off upgrading to CD for years because of a nagging feeling that, the minute I buy the current CD, a new remaster will be announced.

If you can offer any information, I'd appreciate it.

Wow--a fellow Texan that likes Bruce! We seem to be kinda rare! [IMG]

Haven't heard anything, Matt, but you can always check www.brucespringsteen.net (official site) or the message board at talk.livedaily.com (fan site that seems pretty reliable) for the latest news.

I wouldn't mind having some Springsteen on SACD or DVD-A. [IMG]

Isn't the live in NYC CD available on SACD?

Well, the current "Tunnel of Love" CD sounds flawless (it was recorded entirely digitally), so I wouldn't worry about that. As for SACD's, I think the Wall of Sound albums "Born to Run" and "Darkness on the Edge of Town" are records that are just begging for multi-channel mixes. I think "The Rising" could also benefit from 5.1 since on the current disc, several instruments (particularly the drums) often get buried in the mix.

SACD / DVD-A releases of The Boss in 2004 are surely planned. His profile is high and his biggest sellers would be, err... big sellers on a hi-rez format.

Born To Run would be an even more thrilling experience in >192 khz, 24-bit stereo/5.1 surround! Oh, yes. [IMG]

So I guess I'm the only one who thinks The Ghost of Tom Joad is the potential killer Boss SACD app? That particular album would benefit the most, IMO, from a hi-rez release. Very nice recording, good dynamics, lots of ambience, etc...
