Just picked up the DVD this afternoon and was instantly hit by the volume of the center channel. This thing is mixed like a movie. I am used to having most of the music come out of the left and right channel. Not the CC.
Peter Frampton "Live in Detroit" is closer to the way I think it should be recorded.
I have my speakers set to large and there is serious kick drum coming out of the center channel. Also the vocals are so loud that it makes things sound a little unnatural.
I guess i will just experiment a little and turn the center channel down form my normal settings.
What do you guys think of the sound of this one?

while on the topic of audio, there is a sticker on tray one that says "For best fidelity, in your dvd player's set up menu, set Dolby compression to 'off'."
I'm not quite sure I saw this setting on my player (Sony S530D)
who put disc 2 in before disc 1. I sure did. "Lost In The Flood" and "Jungleland" were brilliant. Back to "The Promise" and "Thunder Road".

    Mat,
They are probably talking about dynamic range compression. I think the DD bitstream can contain flags that allow for a "default" setting for DRC, maybe this is what they mean by "Dolby compression".

It sounds at least as good as the broadcast DD 5.1 version.
