i was browsing the ta-p9000es thread a second ago and i began to wonder...$450 is a lot of money for a switcher. couldn't you just use a y-splitter type cable on each of the 6 rca inputs on the 5.1 input? wouldn't this allow you to connect both multi-channel dvd-a and sacd to the same input? i don't see why it wouldn't work. is there really that big of a sacrifice in the sound quality? anybody who has done this, i'd be interested to know as i'm sure i'll end up with a dvd-a and a sacd player one day and the outlaw 950 only has one set of 5.1 inputs. thanks for any info you can provide.

    Kevin,
    The simple answer is no.
You would be effectively shorting the outputs of the two (low output impedance) sources together. Not allowed.
Even if only one of the devices is "powered on" at a time, the outputs are still shorted together.....

Check the AV forum for a possible solution for using DVD-A and SACD on a processor with only 5.1 input.

Stacy - could you be a little more specific on where to look? A link would be very helpful.

would you still be shorting the inputs if you used a t-adaptor like this:

    Kevin,
That is a "Y" splitter you have shown a picture of. Sorry, you can't use that in this application.
